Layers of Being

Jan 26, 2021

West Kentucky Community and Technical College’s Paducah School of Art and Design (PSAD) presents its first online exhibition experience, Layers of Being, through a virtual video tour beginning January 28. The tour can been viewed on PSAD’s website, WKCTC’s and PSAD’s Facebook pages, and WKCTC’s YouTube channel. While the exhibition will not be open to the public due to COVID-19 restrictions, it will be installed in the Bill Ford Gallery in PSAD’s 2D and Graphic Design Building and the video tour will seek to emulate the viewing experience one would have in person.

Layers of Being is an invitational ceramics exhibition curated by PSAD’s Anne Beyer. "Featuring ceramic sculpture with a diverse group of artists from a variety of walks of life, this exhibit explores the vast topic of being and shared human experience, that which connects us all,” said Beyer.

Exhibiting artists include Abigale Brading, Martinsville, Ind.; Syd Carpenter, Philadelphia, Pa.; Patty Chalmers, Carbondale Ill.; Jonathan Christensen, Lawrence, Kan.; Lavinia Hanachiuc, Ann Arbor, Mich.; Lindsey Heiden, Dollar Bay, Mich.; Rob Lorenz, De Soto, Ill.; Mac Star McCusker, Durham, N.C.; Joann Quiñones, Richmond, Ind.; Soe Yu Nwe, Myanmar, Southeast Asia; and John Utgaard of Murray.

“PSAD is pleased to provide regional audiences the opportunity to view this selection of works in clay by noted national and international artists,” said PSAD Director Paul Aho. “Anne Beyer has curated a stunning exhibition of new and exciting works in clay and contributed in substance and vision to PSAD’s history of national invitational exhibitions in the disciplines we teach.”

West Kentucky Community and Technical College’s PSAD offers an associate in fine arts degree in visual art and an associate in applied science degree and certificate programs in visual communication: multimedia, as well as studio art classes for students of all levels and disciplines. Classes are offered on WKCTC’s campus at 4810 Alben Barkley Drive; at 905 Harrison Street; and at 919 Madison Street.
